General information only

Everything on this website is general information. It is not advice, of any kind, and it does not take account of your circumstances, your practice or your objectives.

Reading this site, using either evaluation tool, signing up for updates or completing any form does not create a professional relationship between us. What we email you when you sign up for updates is general information on the same terms.

Get your own advice

Selling or buying a general practice involves financial, tax, legal, regulatory and operational questions that turn on your own position.

Before you act, get advice from your own accountant, your own lawyer and, where a valuation matters, an independent valuer. Nothing on this site replaces any of them, and we do not hold ourselves out as able to give that advice.

The evaluation tools

This site offers two evaluation tools: the sale readiness assessment and the GP Business Acuity Evaluation. Both are indicative screening tools. Each scores what you tell it, and it can only be as accurate as the answers you give.

Neither tool verifies what you enter. They are not due diligence, they are not valuations, and they do not predict whether your practice will sell, to whom, for how much or by when. The acuity evaluation works from proxy measures, not your financial statements, and does not audit your books. A good score is not a professional opinion that your practice is ready or well run, and a poor score is not a professional opinion that it is not.

We do not value practices

We do not value practices and we do not give opinions on what a practice is worth.

Where a valuation is needed, it is prepared by an independent valuer whom you engage and pay, who has no commercial relationship with us. Any figure, band, multiple or range appearing anywhere on this site or in our material is general information only, is not specific to any practice, and must not be relied on as a valuation or as a basis for a decision.

Our ownership data

We maintain data on the ownership of Australian general practices, compiled from public and commercial sources.

It is a record as at a stated date. Ownership changes, practices open and close, group operators buy and sell, and any dataset of this kind contains errors and omissions. We do not warrant that it is complete, current or accurate, and it must not be used as the sole basis for approaching a practice, making an offer or making any other decision. Verify anything that matters before you act on it.

Documents we prepare from your information

Where we prepare a document from information you provide, including any marketing or information document about your practice, the content comes from you and your advisers.

We do not audit, verify or independently confirm the financial or other information you give us, and we do not express any opinion on it. You remain responsible for the accuracy and completeness of everything you supply and everything that appears in a document prepared from it, including anything given to a prospective buyer.

Registering as a buyer

Recording your acquisition criteria with us does not engage us, does not create a professional relationship and does not entitle you to be shown any practice or to be told about any sale.

We act for one party in any transaction and we identify that party in writing. Where we act for an owner, we do not act for you.

Consultants

Consultants who work on Proxeno engagements are accredited by us against published standards. Their work is operational.

They are not accountants, lawyers, valuers or licensed advisers, and they do not provide financial, tax, legal or investment advice. Nothing a consultant says is a substitute for advice from your own professional advisers.

No guarantee of outcome

We do not guarantee that your practice will sell, that a buyer will be found, that any buyer will make an offer, that any offer will complete, or that any price or timeframe will be achieved.

Nothing on this site is a promise or projection of any commercial outcome.

Accuracy of this site

We take reasonable care with the content of this site, but we do not warrant that it is accurate, complete or current. Regulations, funding arrangements, tax positions and market conditions change, and material here may be out of date by the time you read it.

Links to other sites

Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We do not endorse them, we do not control them and we take no responsibility for their content or for anything you do in reliance on them.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss or damage, however caused, arising from your use of this site or your reliance on anything in it.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited to resupplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.

Your personal information

How we collect, use and hold personal information is set out in our privacy policy and on how we use your data.
