The role has a name and it is older than broking

In the Greek cities a proxenos was a citizen appointed to look after visitors from another city: to house them, introduce them to the right people, stand beside them in disputes and vouch for them. His allegiance was declared and everyone knew which side he was on. The rest of it is on the homepage.

A practice owner selling for the first time is the visitor. You are the local.

What we are building

Proxeno matches practice owners who are selling with the groups and operators who buy. Behind that is a national list of who owns Australian general practice, mapped site by site: 340 group operators and 6,393 practices. Where the list comes from.

Owners come in through a free readiness assessment, then choose how they want to sell. Some run it themselves with our forms, our documents and our buyer list. Others want someone alongside them. That second group is your work.

What you would do

The work is operational.

You work through the practice with the owner: their systems, rosters and staffing, patient numbers, reporting, accreditation, what is documented and what is still informal. You tell them how the practice will look to a buyer and where it looks weak, working from our materials and what you already know about running a practice.

You keep the paperwork moving, which is most of it. You sit down with multiple owners and work through where their answers differ, before a buyer finds the gap for them. You set up the introductions to the buyers the owner has chosen, you brief them before each meeting, and you go through the offers with them afterwards against the priorities they set at the start.

What you would not do

The numbers go to the owner's accountant. The contracts go to their lawyer. Any valuation goes to an independent valuer. The owner and the buyer agree terms directly, and you do not negotiate for either of them.

What you get in the founding year

  • Access at no charge for year one, subject to acceptance and to meeting the standards.
  • Training on our process and materials, so every engagement runs the same way and you are not inventing a method per client.
  • Seller work that fits your location and your capability, arriving already assessed, with the owner's readiness report and priorities recorded before you speak to them.
  • The ownership and buyer data behind every engagement.
  • Your name published as a founding consultant.
  • A say in how the standards and the process are shaped, while they are still being written.

Whose client it is

The owner is our client. You are allocated to them for the engagement, and the relationship does not move across to you when it ends.

Where a practice needs a tune-up rather than a sale, you deliver it through your consultancy using our process: the same audit and the same review every time, with the outcome reported back. Where it needs more than a tune-up, that is separate work with Medius Global over a longer period.

What we ask

  • Meet the accreditation standards at the start and keep meeting them.
  • Work inside the process rather than around it.
  • Hold to the conflict rules, including never acting for both sides of a deal.
  • Protect confidentiality and handle documents properly.
  • Respond to owners inside the stated time.
  • Send us the outcome data.
  • Take part in the quarterly review.

How work is allocated

We do not guarantee volume to anyone.

Allocation follows location and market fit, the type of practice and whether it suits you, your capacity at the time, how quickly you respond, whether you are meeting the standards, and how your previous engagements went.

What we measure

  • Time to first response.
  • Owner satisfaction.
  • Whether assessed owners go on to engage.
  • Whether engagements progress through the stages.
  • Whether the process was followed.
  • Whether the data came back complete.

Reviewed quarterly. Falling short affects what you are allocated before it affects your membership.

After year one

The founding year is a qualifying period. After it, consultants move to a paid tier, and those with the strongest records move to a preferred tier with first call on work in their area.

Founding consultants start that with a track record inside the process and a hand in the standards.

Who this suits

You have run practices or advised them on operations. You are comfortable acting for one side and saying so. You are comfortable with fixed fees and a defined output rather than a percentage. You will work inside someone else's process. You are willing to be measured.

Apply

Expression of interest, then a conversation, then accreditation review, then onboarding. Your first engagement runs supervised.

Places are limited to the founding cohort.
