GP Business Acuity Evaluation
Free. 12 to 15 minutes, no need for financial statements.
A 26-question review of how your practice operates as a business, scored across six areas: workforce, financial health, clinical activity, premises and tenure, systems and governance, and planning.
What it covers
Six areas, weighted by how much each one moves the value and the risk of the practice. The score is out of 100.
Workforce
The GP age profile, ownership structure, room use, owner dependence, the practice manager, staff turnover, recruitment capacity and workforce stability.
Financial health
Staff cost ratio, occupancy cost ratio, pathology sublease dependency and billings per consulting hour. Proxy measures, so no financial statements are required.
Clinical activity
Chronic condition management capture, the billing model, the pathology referral pattern and procedural billing.
Infrastructure and tenure
Lease term and security, room adequacy, and the capacity to take on another GP.
Governance, systems and digital readiness
Performance reporting, software currency, meaningful use of your data, PIP QI clinical data reporting and cyber-security basics.
Strategic intent
Profitability awareness and how far ahead you are planning.
What it asks for
The evaluation asks how the practice operates, and most answers will come from memory, your practice software or your accounting dashboard. You don't need to involve your accountant, as this isn't about your actual financials.
Before you start, you'll provide details about the practice: your state and postcode, the number of full-time-equivalent GPs, the number of consulting rooms, and your role. A practice name is optional. If you enter one, it stays in your browser and appears only on your report. We don't retain your practice name.
What you get from this process
A score out of 100, a grade for each of the six areas so you can identify gaps and opportunities for operational improvements. The system also guides you to a prioritised action for every gap, starting with the biggest. Each action names what to change and where the work needs to happen.
Your first score is a baseline, not a verdict. You are welcome to retake the evaluation after you've made changes; the next score will show what moved. If you want structured help closing the gaps, the GP Business Acuity Program works you through the same six areas over 12 weeks, or a consultant can deliver a scoped tune-up of the areas that scored low. If a sale is on your horizon, the baseline you build here carries straight into sale preparation, so starting years early costs nothing and shows in the price.
What this is not
This is not a valuation, and it doesn't put a price on your practice. It does not audit your books. It shows where the business is strong, where it is exposed and what to do about each.
What it costs, and what we ask
This evaluation is free. It does not ask for your practice name, and we don't retain it in our system. Your answers are stored against a random number, not against you or your practice.
At the end, you can choose to have the report emailed to you, be reminded to re-score, and hear from us. Each is a separate tick, and you are welcome to leave with your report and provide no details at all.
